Vicky Gaisford

Senior Associate, Film & TV

An experienced television lawyer specialising in scripted content, acting for leading independent television producers on all aspects of development, financing and production of their projects. Vicky combines industry insight with clear, pragmatic and commercially focused advice, helping clients bring ambitious creative projects to screen whilst effectively managing legal and business requirements.

Vicky advises on a wide range of legal and commercial matters relating to the development, production and financing of television productions. Her work includes drafting and negotiation of a range of production agreements such as commissioning agreements and talent deals, as well as advising on underlying rights arrangements, such as writer, format and option agreements. She has extensive experience working with key industry participants including global streamers, leading broadcasters and major international distributors.

She particularly enjoyed working for high-profile productions such as ‘Adolescence’ and ‘Victoria Beckham’, and is especially interested in projects inspired by real people and events, whether based on life rights, historical subject matter or contemporary issues, as they often raise nuanced legal and commercial issues.

Prior to joining the firm, Vicky worked in-house across three scripted television companies within the All3Media group (Studio Lambert, Unstoppable Film & TV and Seven Stories), gaining valuable insight into the client perspective and the practical realities of production.

She qualified in 2017, having completed her training as a solicitor whilst working at media talent management company YMU Group (formerly James Grant Group) which included a six-month litigation secondment at Lewis Silkin LLP.

Vicky undertook an art and design foundation diploma at Central Saint Martin’s and then read History at Durham University before doing a Master’s degree in Conflict, Security and Development at King’s College London. She then went on to complete her GDL and LPC at The University of Law in London. She is a member of Women in Film & TV.
